Certificate of Competency

Do you want to learn to navigate safely at sea and take the first steps towards your certificate of competence?
In this theory course, you will get the necessary knowledge to pass the theoretical part of the Proficiency Test. You can then proceed with the practical part, which you sign up for later.

A Certificate of Competency is for both motorboats and sailboats. A Certificate of Competency documents your skills in navigation, COLREGs (rules of the road at sea), safety, and seamanship – enabling you to operate a boat safely and legally in our waters. You must pass both a theoretical and a practical exam for a Certificate of Competency to be issued.
